Frequency Festival returned to Lincoln on 26 – 29th October 2023 for its 12th year anniversary edition!
Produced by Threshold Studios, Frequency is an international festival of digital creativity, hosted every two years in the historic city of Lincoln.
Since launching in 2011, Frequency has hosted over 600 local, national and international artists, exhibiting their work to over 95,000 visitors.
We’ve presented an imaginative fusion of art, heritage, media and culture, giving everyone the chance to discover a world of digital art. We have popped up in surprising places, filling Lincoln’s historic and hidden corners with creative delights. From shopping precincts to sheds, Lincoln Cathedral to the kiosk, we’ve taken digital art to the people.
At Frequency, new and innovative works by emerging and established artists and creative technologists showcase the best creative talent from across the globe; with immersive exhibitions and interactive experiences open to all.
Frequency is a platform for celebrating the pioneering spirit of digital innovation; sparking debates on digital culture, nurturing talent within the creative industries, and inspiring the digital creative in us all.

This year’s Emergence theme saw an exciting line up of highly acclaimed international, national and place-based artists exhibit and perform their work alongside place based and new talent, inviting new opportunities for collaboration, creativity and discovery in and around the historic city.

Artist Spotlight – Annie Morrad
Annie Morrad is an internationally exhibited artist, musician and lecturer. Her art practice incorporates music; installation; photography; painting; drawing; performance; video and sound. She also plays tenor saxophone. She produces artwork that considers interaction, interconnection and encounters with non-human species. Artist Spotlight – Lauren Hubbard
Lauren Hubbard is a multi-disciplinary artist who works from her studio situated on the top floor of a Victorian ex-shoe factory in Northampton, UK. They work mainly with sculpture and textiles as well as painting, collage and printmaking and has experience with short filmmaking. She is 85% Skulls and Robots and is neurodivergent. Lauren has participated in many joint and group exhibitions and art projects. Most recently, Lauren was one half of the exhibition, ‘Dyadic Menagerie’. We’ve presented an imaginative fusion of art, heritage, media and culture, giving everyone the chance to discover a world of digital art.

The world has changed a lot in these past 12 years and digital has become ever more important in our lives. Through that we have been there, asking the big questions, championing creatives who use technology in thought-provoking ways and connecting deeply with our city and community.
